Frequently Asked Questions
The Sound Therapy Alchemist

Below you’ll find information about sound therapy, Reiki, my qualifications, safety guidelines, and what to expect from sessions. You’ll also find answers to common questions and links to further information on sound healing.

-
My Training: I trained with the Sound Healing Academy and the Centre for Excellence, gaining a Diploma in Sound Therapy accredited by the Complementary Medical Association (CMA). I received my Reiki practitioner and Master qualifications through the brilliant Rob Linden of Reiki Unbounded, a lineage I am proud to carry into my practice.

Meet Your Practitioner: Christian Jensen
Can I attend a sound bath during pregnancy?
Yes. I have welcomed many pregnant women to group sound baths throughout various stages of pregnancy.
-
Guidance: Please let me know in advance if you wish to attend, especially if you are in your first trimester, the final weeks of pregnancy, or have a high-risk pregnancy. In these cases, I may suggest you seek advice from your GP or midwife first.
-
The Science: It is generally advised to avoid routine exposure to sounds louder than 115 decibels during pregnancy. Beyond this, scientific research into sound vibration during pregnancy is limited, but it may be beneficial; babies begin to hear around 16 weeks gestation, and like adults, they can respond positively to relaxation and nervous system stimulation.
-
My Approach: During your session, I will not place any instruments near or upon your body. I intentionally create a gentler experience when using the Gongs. Instruments such as Crystal bowls, Himalayan bowls, and Chimes produce softer vibrations that do not transfer as strongly, ensuring a comfortable and soothing experience for both mother and baby.
While sound therapy is inclusive, I do not work with clients who are:
-
In the first trimester of pregnancy for One-to-One sessions (where instruments are used in close proximity).
-
Experiencing unmanaged severe mental health conditions (e.g., psychosis, paranoid schizophrenia, or active suicidal ideation).
-
Diagnosed with sound-triggered (musicogenic) epilepsy.
I use caution and require advance notice if you have:
-
Other forms of managed epilepsy.
-
Conditions triggered by sound (such as acute tinnitus).
-
Metal implants or plates (excluding dental fillings).
-
Pacemakers or electrical medical devices.
Note: If you are ever unsure, I always recommend speaking with your GP or midwife before attending a session.
Is Sound Therapy safe for everyone?
Reiki is a gentle, non-invasive energy healing practice with no known adverse effects.
It does not interfere with medical treatment and can be used alongside conventional healthcare. Reiki is typically performed with light touch or no physical contact at all. Available as 1:1 treatments in person or as distant healing or as a group experience.
Is Reiki Healing safe?

Do I need experience?
None at all. You don’t need to be musical or have a background in meditation. All you need is an open mind.
Do I need to remove my clothes?
No. All sound therapy and Reiki sessions are fully clothed. You will remain comfortable throughout, and during 1:1 and group sessions you may also be covered with a blanket if desired.
What can I expect from my first session?
Most people find sound therapy deeply relaxing, although experiences can vary.
Some feel calm and grounded, others experience emotional release or deep rest. Every session is unique and responds to your individual needs.
What happens during a Sound Bath?
You are "bathed" in vibrations from Gongs, Singing Bowls, and other therapeutic instruments. These frequencies guide your nervous system into a state of deep rest, mental clarity, and emotional release.
What is your approach to healing?
I do not consider myself a “healer” in the traditional sense. I believe that each person has the innate ability to support their own healing process. My role is to hold a safe, supportive, and compassionate space using sound, Reiki, and mindfulness practices to support relaxation and wellbeing.
